Brief History of Mid Murray Support Service Inc.

The organisation began its “Life” in 1987 when a steering committee was formed to establish the Mannum Neighbourhood House Inc. and in March 1998 the name was changed to Mid Murray Community Support Service Inc.

The C.H.I.P.S. (Community Help for the Isolated with Personal Support) project began in 1997, and in 2005 became an incorporated body in its own right.

Since the organisation began we have moved premises on two occasions and now enjoy a prime position in the main street of Mannum.

Our services are diverse and are growing constantly.

In November 2011 the name Mid Murray Support Service Inc. was adopted as the trading name for MMCSS and CHIPS.

Mid Murray Support Service Inc. could not survive without the tremendous support from the Mid Murray Council.

Mid Murray Support Service Inc. also receive funding from Centrelink, Adult Community Education, HACC (Home and Community Care), DFC (Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs), Mannum Lions Club and our volunteer run Op Shop “Scrooges”.

Goodbye Mr Chips!

CHIPS (Community Help for the Isolated with Personal Support) Inc ceased to exist on Sunday 30th June 2013.

The services provided by CHIPS and Mid Murray Community Support Services for many years was rolled into one organisation, Mid Murray Support Services Inc, from July 1st 2013.

These changes have made our organisation, governance, finances and administration much more efficient.

Our caring volunteer driven services to the Mid Murray Community will continue as usual and will improve as we continue to strive for Service Excellence.
